We read Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut in my AP Lit class and I was excited because my teacher has pretty good taste in books. But I didn’t really enjoy this book. It is about two men named Kilgore and Dwayne. Dwayne reads Kilgore’s book and there are major repercussions from that. This whole book led up to the moment that Dwayne took action as a result of reading Kilgore’s book, but I felt that it wasn’t very dramatic. This book also makes a big statement about meaning and how arbitrary everything is, as well as how society is created with norms. It makes a really great statement, But I didn’t really enjoy reading this book. If you are going to read it at all I would recommend only reading it with a group because there is a lot to discuss.
