Wonderstruck Book vs. Movie

Wonderstruck Book vs. Movie

Wonderstruck by Brain Selznick is one of my favorite books. I love everything that Brain Selznick writes or draws. So I was very happy to see that Wonderstruck was turned into an amazing movie! Brain Selznick wrote the screen play for it, and you could tell. Because it was so perfect. It was incredibly accurate to the book and it captured the same magical feeling the book gave. They also did a great job of showing the contrasting difference between Rose and Ben. Rose’s story was told in black and white, the only sound was the music accompaniment like it was an old silent movie, since she is deaf. Ben’s story was told in color and had sound. This was just like the book with the drawing vs words. Another great thing about this movie is that they found an actor who was deaf to play Rose. It is important to have actors with disability who reflect their characters. This was a fantastic book to movie adaption and I really enjoyed watching this movie. I would recommend this movie to both lovers of the book and those who have not read it yet.
