Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick

Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick

I was super excited to read Dangerous Lies by Becca Fitzpatrick because I had loved the Hush, Hush series and had made all my friends read them in Middle School. This book is about a girl named Estella who witnesses a horrible crime and goes into witness protection because if she acts as a witness for the crime she would be taking down a big time drug dealer who had an organization that would go after her. She doesn’t want to leave her old life behind, especially her boyfriend Reed, but she wants to put away the drug dealer who ruined her mom’s life. She goes to Thunder Basin where she lives with a retired cop named Carmina who has rules for everything. She soon befriends Chet, a guy who helps Carmina around the house. Estella with her new name Stella can’t wait for the summer to be over because she will turn 18 and be able to move away and find her boyfriend. At first I didn’t like this book because Estella was spoiled and did whatever she wanted, not caring about the consequences, but as time went on she developed into a better person that I started to like. I also liked how she made mistakes that anyone could make. It was also interesting learning about Witness protection and what it means for the people in it. I ended up liking this book and the plot twist in the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked the Hush, Hush saga or wants to learn about the consequences of being in Witness Protect.
