Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5) by Sarah J. Maas

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5) by Sarah J. Maas

I was so excited to get the next book in the Throne of Glass series, I have waited about a year for the fifth one after reading the first four within a few weeks. In this book Aelin finally makes her way back to Teresan but immediately has to set out to fight the war against Erawan and to win the loyalties of those in her country who aren’t certain that she is the right choice to be Queen. We also follow Manon who is questioning her loyalties to her Matron and what actually matters in life. We also get to see Lysandra and Aedion grow as Lysandra explores her new freedom and Aedion is still finding his place within his new court. More threats come closer and now Aelin has to call in all the favors she has to fight against the growing darkness in Morath. This book was very good, the beginning was a bit slow (it was more about the politics of becoming Queen) but as the book goes on it turns more into fighting for survival. This book is funny with Aelin’s usual snarkiness which gets better when you add in Fae Males. I enjoyed reading this book, and would usually recommend it to everyone, but Aelin and Rowan’s relationship matured and so this book matured as well. I would recommend the rest of the series to middle school students but would wait on this fifth book till they are at least in high school.
