I am having trouble writing this review even though this is my new favorite book. Everything about it is just so magical and perfect. Even when there was only ten to twenty pages left the ending took me by complete surprise and I am having trouble getting over it. Especially as it was not what I was excepting and super anticlimactic, yet it fit in with the story in the most perfect way. Everything about this book was just perfect, the characters, the setting and especially the descriptions. Even though this is a middle grade book I did not feel that it was too young for me, I was even afraid that I was missing some things as everything was so beautifully described and there was so much meaning behind everything, yet it was all very sensible and easy to understand. This book is very hard to describe and the only way I can is to just say to read it, regardless of age, as everyone can relate to it. There is just something for everyone, there were times when I would just have to put it down to think about a certain play on words or a philosophical thought proposed (you could tell that the author had been a philosophy major in college). Everything was just so simply presented but in such a creative and fun way.  This book centers around Alice and Oliver, basically they act like 12 year olds, but not in a childish way. They are relatable to everyone. As they each are determined to go on their own adventure and to solve their own mystery, and they find out what it means to have a friend and what working together can really teach them. It is fun and entertaining to watch them navigate their world and discover new things. It might seem like a simple plot and a young book, but it can and should be read by everyone. It is more than just what the synopsis is. I would recommend this to everyone, and I already have by thrusting it in the faces of the girls in my Girl Scout troop.
