The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Every time I hear the name Gatsby, I just sigh in exasperation, which I guess is part of the affect he is going for, but this response is a result of doing Gatsby  at school. I say doing, not just reading because you cannot just read Gatsby, part of it is due to who Gatsby is and otherwise you are not getting the full affect of the book. There is so much to know about Gatsby and the people he surrounds himself with, but as the tragic love story plays out, there are not as many answers as there are questions. The Great Gatsby is something that should be discussed because otherwise, the affect of the book is lost. This was something I realized the hard way when I read it back in 2013 alone and then at school in 2015 where it was much better. As a whole it is a good book with so much depth portrayed in the swallow 1920’s world.
