Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Hamlet the second play by William Shakespeare that I have read, and I loved it. We read it at school in class and I would always recommend reading it that way (or in a book club). I feel like that is the best way to read Shakespeare because there is so much hidden meaning that is meant to be discussed. This play is about Hamlet getting revenge for his father’s murder. As Hamlet searches for revenge he falls into an antic disposition, he does this on purpose to make it so that he can do things without looking suspicious but it is greatly debated if by the end of the play he really is mad or is still feigning it. We used the Folger edition to read Hamlet and I would really recommend it because it has the definition of the words on the same page (the left page is glossary and the right is the text) as well as summaries of each scene at the beginning of the scene in case you are having trouble following what has just happened. It was really interesting and it made it so that I got the everyday references that everyone makes about Hamlet. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a dramatic tragedy, but be warned when it says it is a tragedy, it really is a tragedy.
