Hidden: A Child’s Story of the Holocaust by Loïc Dauvillier, Marc Lizano, Greg Salsedo, Alexis Siegel

It took me an hour read this graphic novel. It is touch, sweet and heartbreaking and a perfect way to introduce a child to the events of the holocaust. In this graphic novel, Dounia tells her granddaughter a story. This is her story of surviving the holocaust. It brings back old memories and heartbreak for Dounia and gives her family a better understanding of her past. I liked the illustrations as they managed to depict a loving but scary situation in such a way that a child could understand the danger, but not be afraid for themselves. Because of the graphic novel format I think it would be easy to be read on its own, but it could also be an interesting read aloud, because then it would be shared in the same way that Dounia is sharing her story.
