Little House in the Big Woods (Little House, #1) by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Little House in the Big Woods (Little House, #1) by Laura Ingalls Wilder

I have heard about these for a long time, often under extreme measures such as “I did not like them, you should never read them” ranging to “I loved them you have to read them all!”. This made it take a long time for me to get around to this series, but with the determination of one friend, I finally got around to it. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised by them, I found them to be interesting and sweet as I watched Laura grow up in the Big Woods. It was interesting to see how isolated everyone was back during the days on the frontier. It also provided a lot of historical insight on how things were done back then, such as making butter to using all the animal parts. Even though it was interesting, in the middle I felt that the plot just went away and it was more of a narrative. This made it hard to get through to the end. I am giving this four stars because it was informative and interesting just a little hard to get through at times.
