March: Book One (March, #1) by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, Nate Powell

I read a preview of this book awhile ago, and then during one of the first weekends of the Trump administration I decided to get it and read it. It only felt appropriate as Trump had just claimed that John Lewis doesn’t do anything. This book sure proves him wrong and this graphic novel is a great way to learn about a  civil rights leader, and I can tell you the information is true because it comes from John Lewis himself. I would highly recommend it, as it goes fast and is very educational. I also like the way it is tied into the present with the Obama administration. This shows how movements start with the individuals, but it takes a group for it to get going. My only  hesitation in recommending this book to middle school aged people is the use of language. It is used only in historical terms and to remain accurate to the times, but that also makes it a little risky for those that are not used to reading such harsh words.
