The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth

This book was not what I was expecting at all. The Miseducation of Cameron Post is about Cam whose parents die when she is 12 years old. At this age she knows that she is gay but lives with her conservative aunt so Cam never expects to come out. Her life consists of swimming with her friends, being a lifeguard at the lake, and being a movie buff. Everything was completely normal until the girl she had a crush on turned out to not be as straight as Cam thought she was. When her aunt finds out that Cam is gay she sends her to conversion camp. This book was really interesting because it was not what I expected and not story that I have read before, it was about the experience of living in a place where someone knows that they will not be accepted. Overall this book was good to read but is also very sad to read.
