Nine, Ten: A September 11 Story by Nora Raleigh Baskin

Nine, Ten: A September 11 Story by Nora Raleigh Baskin

I was alive for 9/11, I was two years old, and I do not remember it, at all. So even though I was alive in the before 9/11 world, I do not know it. This book does a great job of showing just that, the before and after and the moment of change. This story follows four main characters, showing some of the perspectives of those affected, such as the firefighters or Naheed whose wearing of a hijab is seen differently depending on the before or after perspective. This story was relatable, sweet and fast. I have to say it is a little bit tense reading it, knowing what happened that fateful day (I also happened to be reading it on an airplane (not the best plan)). I loved the interconnectivity of the story and finished the book feeling satisfied and content. Everyone got what they needed whether they knew it or not.
