The Program (The Program, #1) by Suzanne Young

The Program (The Program, #1) by Suzanne Young

I started this book coming away from a really bad one, and so I was really looking forward to this and hoping that it would be good. It did not disappoint, I instantly liked it  and found it easy to read. The one of the only issues that I had with this book was the dynamic of the relationship between Sloane and James and Sloane and Realm. It just rubbed me the wrong way, I did not like how dependent and needy she was on them. She could not figure out or make a decision without them. But other then that, I really liked it. To me this book was touching, sad and sweet all at the same time. I found myself thinking about it even after it was over, missing the story. The idea of it really stuck with me. It was just an easy enjoyable read. I will definitely read the next one. When there were scenes that would have been considered “inappropriate” it was always off page which I appreciated. In this book Sloane and James have to make sure to show no signs of being depressed, because otherwise they will be put into The Program. The Program is helping prevent teen suicide, it takes away your memory, so then you do not remember what made you want to kill yourself. Sloane and James are desperate to not get flagged to be put into The Program, but sometimes it is impossible not to crack. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fluffy dystopian read.
