Starters (Starters, #1) by Lissa Price

This book was recommended to me by someone who reads a lot. She was super excited about it saying that it was something different. It is something different, but I did not really like it. The story was different and new, but it was not exciting to read. To me it seemed like a more girly version of the Legend series by Marie Lu. The book is about a girl, Callie, who lives in a post war world. In this world there are only young people (Starters) and old people (Enders). Anybody who was middle aged is dead, including Callie’s parents. In this post war world, if a grandparent does not claim you, you are left on the streets, not allowed to work. This leaves Callie homeless and caring for her sick brother. When Callie finds an opportunity to make money, she takes it, but it is nothing that she expected she had to do. Her job is to become a body for an Ender. The Enders rent Starter’s bodies. The Starter is asleep the whole time and the Ender has complete control over the body. When Callie signs up to for this, she does not get what she expects and finds herself doing what she least expects. Although the story was different, I found it slow to read. I did not enjoy it very much, but I recommend this to anyone who didn’t like Legend but wants something similar to it.
