The Stranger by Albert Camus

The Stranger by Albert Camus

The Stranger by Albert Camus is a very interesting read, I don’t think I would have liked it if I hadn’t read it at school. It is about Meursault a French man living in colonized Algeria. He lives his life in a way that he considers normal and life just happens to him. Meursault lives his life without meaning and this book shows him living in a world that needs meaning so they are constantly trying to give him meaning, he is the outsider, the stranger. It is a very interesting read and it really helps to understand it if you know about the philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre and Nietzsche. I would only recommend this book if you are reading it with someone else so that you can discuss it, or if you are reading it at school or with a book club.
