Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass #1) by Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is about an assassin named Celaena Sardothien. Celaena has many secrets and is very skilled, but she is currently stuck in a slave camp, Endovier. She was Adarlan’s Assassin but she was caught and has been rotting away as a slave for a year. But one day the Crown Prince Dorian, and his best friend, Captain of the Guard Chaol, come and offer her a deal. Dorian’s father the King of Adarlan is having a competition to be his Champion and do his biddings whenever he asks. Dorian chose Celaena to spite his father who hated her. Celaena chose to go with them and fight to be his Champion in exchange for her freedom after a few years as Champion. Celaena wants nothing more than to be free. But when they get back to the glass castle that the King built everything isn’t how it seems. Eventually Celaena befriends Dorian and Chaol and for the first time in a long time has people on her side, that she even begins to care about. Although contestants start being found dead within the castle walls, murdered in grotesque ways and Celaena has to figure out who is killing them or become the next target. This book was very action packed, but also made you think. I really enjoyed reading it, Celaena has a hilarious sense of humor and I would recommend this book to anyone who liked The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard or Divergent by Veronica Roth.
